The world’s leading provider of flexible-office space won Best New Coworking Space and Best Coworking Space in the Philippines
This year, IWG has been recognised for its contribution to the flexible workspace industry in the Asia-Pacific region, taking home prestigious property-industry awards for Best Coworking Space in the Philippines and Best New Coworking Space.
In July, IWG won big at the Property Guru Awards 2019 in Manila, when SPACES Manila World Plaza was named Best Coworking Space. The glittering ceremony is a highlight of the real-estate calendar, bringing together the finest developers in markets across Asia to compete for the accolade of being the finest in their field.
That same month, at the 2019 Qantas Business Travel Awards, SPACES T&G Building Melbourne was one of five winners of the Best New Coworking Space award. Australia’s flagship airline presented its pick of industry-leading coworking spaces, meeting venues, dining options and hotels in its Travel Insider magazine – distributed on the airline’s flights and in its business-class lounges.
To operate the top flexible workspace in the Philippines and Best New Coworking space by aworld-leading airline IS a tremendous achievement for IWG. The company’s SPACES brand continues to resonate with businesses across Asia-Pacific, where both startups and corporates are looking for design-led, inspiring flexible workspace in convenient locations.
“Asia-Pacific’s flourishing business scene has embraced flexible workspace thanks to a dynamic startup and entrepreneurial landscape,” says Christos Misailidis, CEO of IWG for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. “To meet the demand, SPACES is expanding into countries where more firms are looking to spread their wings, or where global corporates are aiming to gain a foothold in the rapidly developing region.”
2019 has been a stellar year for IWG’s growth across the region, and each of its flexspace brands has expanded to meet the surge in demand for shared-office space in Asia. “SPACES has expanded to 13 sites in 40 locations across Asia, opening its first offices in Jakarta (WTC 3) and Hanoi (Belvedere), with additional sites in Manila, Bangkok, and Taipei,” says Misailidis. “The company has also open its first site in Kuala Lumpur and has signed for its first site for Penang in the cultural hub of George Town at the historic Standard Chartered Bank Building.
“Regus, too, has expanded into new sub-markets and Asian cities, such as Hsinchu and Taichung in Taiwan, Selangor, and Penang in Malaysia, and Bali and Surabaya in Indonesia. Finally, Singapore is the home of the first No18 in Asia, located at Capitol Piazza in Singapore’s historic heart.”
As Asia-Pacific’s flexspace industry enjoys healthy growth, customers have more choice than ever when it comes to providers. However, it’s important they choose a reliable corporate real-estate partner with longstanding experience of operating locations all over the world. “Overall, Asia-Pacific is a flexible-workspace market without high barriers to entry, and this is why we see a lot of small local operators,” says Misailidis. “On the other hand, we are witnessing a lack of knowledge on how to operate a profitable business in this industry, and as an outcome many companies are failing to sustain and grow a healthy business – that puts in danger not only themselves but their customers and landlords too.”
With 30 years’ experience in flexspace, a sensible growth strategy, and an international network of 3,500 locations across its different brands, IWG works with corporate real-estate (CRE) professionals to create a global, multi-brand office portfolio that’s truly bespoke. For IWG, building a long-term business relationship is what it’s all about.
